I’m terrible at recalling most of my dreams, although I do have some recurring ones that are very vivid and usually I’m a lucid dreamer. One thing I hate is the falling dream. I did hear once that it was a physiological phenomenon, instructing your sleeping mind “Wake the hell up!” for some reason, but I don’t know if that’s true or not.

In Dreams

In dreams the green sky
Slides to be the face of someone
I recognise but never knew.

I find myself in surroundings
Familiar but totally unknown –
An undiscovered land I’ve seen before

I feel a dog barking,
Hear the wind on my arm,
Taste blue and red streaks

I am terrified and ecstatic to be so
I am lonely in a crowd of friends
I am at home in the confusion

I wander naked and exposed,
Falling through the solid air.
I cry out in strange tongues.

I wake, with fading memories
Of a place terrible and sad
And immediately want to return.
